Skin tumor growths on the skin caused by abnormal cells. There are various types of skin tumor cells derived from different skin layers. Three main types of skin tumor are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Melanoma is the most dangerous skin tumor where they grow and spread to other organs of the body quickly.

Skin is the outer lining of the body. It protects us from heat and light, injury, and infection. It regulates body temperature and stores water, fat and vitamin D. Basal cell carcinoma symptom

Usually basal cell carcinoma occurs in sun-exposed areas of body, such as neck or face. Basal cell carcinoma may appear as a pearly or waxy bump and a flat, flesh-colored or brown scar-like lesion.

Squamous cell carcinoma symptoms

Squamous cell carcinoma occurs on sun-exposed areas of body, such as face, ears and hands. People with darker skin are more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma on areas that are not often exposed to the sun. Squamous cell carcinoma may appear as firm, red nodule and flat lesion with a scaly, crusted surface.

Melanoma symptoms

Melanoma can develop anywhere on body, in otherwise normal skin or in an existing mole that become tumor. Melanoma most often appears on the face or the trunk of affected men while in women, this type of tumor most often develops on the lower legs.
